matthewjoseph-54651 I was surprised to find this film not just engrossing but incredibly well shot. With a white color pallet that is seldom put to screen Blindness is about a city that is suddenly engulfed by something that causes instant blindness. Exquisitely shot and well-paced this is a film that will make for something that will surely fascinate the audience. 7/10 (Great premise well executed).
gulenarslann It was an absolute disappointment for me. I really liked reading the book and may be one of my favorites. However while watching the movie I could't find what I was looking for, not just a bit..
cengizozder The movie I watched was actually taken with a very loyal mind to original José Saramago's book. When we look at the lower IMDb score that movie have taken, we realize that it is not often overlooked that this film deserved by the viewer. Sad but we are not surprised. Because it's a literary adaptation. Blindness is not suitable for young minds waiting for the story of post-civilization apocalyptic worlds like 'Mad Max' 'Waterworld' and 'God of Flies'. This is not the action that this generation expects, but the dark desperate world that goes bumpy in the feces is something beyond the comfort standards even for young people. I advice people to read the book first and than watch Julianne Moore acting.
juneebuggy This was pretty good but I was hoping it would be better. It follows the book well enough though, so what can you do. The story itself is grim and bleak and also kinda vague at times -as in where is this taking place? (my guess is Spain in the future.) I found it hopeless and depressing, not so much because of all the blindness but due to how society is portrayed, their is no humanity, no kindness, people are just animals.I did enjoy the cast, in particular Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo and there is a large extended cast attached here too portraying a group of people who band together after a mysterious epidemic of instant white blindness paralyses a city. Those first afflicted are quarantined in an abandoned mental hospital where they are left to their own devices so that chaos and the strong rein supreme.I also liked seeing the state of the world towards the end when the survivors wander the apocalyptic streets scavenging for food, and you really feel for Moore's character, the responsibility placed upon her. There are a couple of strange plot elements involved here where I wondered why "that" happened (cheating husbands, a gang rape that could have been stopped and wasn't) Not a great movie or a very happy one. It left me feeling like I did after watching Children Of Men. 10/27/14
