It's about the bad boys and the good girls *surprise*. Yes, it's all black and white here. Was hoping to watch something fun about adventurous women, but this rather makes me ashamed of being female. Why is it that in every movie women have to be plain stupid? My advice to you is don't waste your time... move on.

Why is Kate Bosworth in this film? Does the writer have embarrassing pictures of her that he threatened to make public? I know she isn't the biggest of Hollywood starlets, but she's about a million times better than the dross you have here.Three women who absolutely despise each other go on another camping trip to a secluded island. In a rare moment when they are screaming abuse at each other, they meet three soldiers who are there for the hunting. One woman gets drunk and seduces a soldier, only to change her mind half way through the 'act.' He gets cross, so she kills him, meaning the remaining two soldiers decide to hunt down and murder the remaining three girls. So, can three women survive and overpower two well-trained soldiers with guns? I'll give you a clue: this is a movie. Take a guess.Whereas the soldiers have their military training to fall back on, the women just sit in bushes before trying to sneak about the place while shouting loudly. Then, when they get in the water, they decide just to splash a lot rather than swim.I can't think of many films like this. There are only six cast-members and you might think that what the producers save on cast wages they could put towards a decent story or effects. However, this has neither. It comes across as something a poor film student would make. The 'fight scenes' look like that sketch in Monty Python where six old ladies mud wrestle. Seriously, it's that bad.If you want hunting in the jungle, there's a little-known film called 'Predator' starring one Arnold Schwarzenegger. Check it out if you haven't seen it. If you have, just watch it again - it's in a different universe of film-making to this.Kate, why?

This movie is about 3 girls who were friends growing up, get together and go to an isolated island. You'd think they'd spend time catching up but almost immediately meet up with.....yup, 3 guys. Who turn out to be not so friendly. Quickly it turns into an all out girl vs guy fight for survival. And to get back off island alive. All the characters are poorly developed and seem so dry and unbelievable. The storyline is predictable and slow. Maybe even tedious. It's a shame because the story sounded good and had a decent cover. This movie had great potential that was not realized. It's a shame more time wasn't spent on this movie.

I literally just created an account so I could review this film. I am floored by the very notion that it received, as of right now, a 4.7 on this site. Are you serious? 'Oz the Great and Powerful' got 6.5 for pete's sakes. Have you seen that tripe? Unbelievable. These women aren't special, that's the point. They aren't strong, they have no means to fight back, they're believably terrified of the situation. If you're waiting for them to retaliate against their attackers with a slew of clever traps, you may prefer such torture porn as I Spit on Your Grave. This is a thriller. No one promised you guts. In fact, I was a little confused by the nudity. I didn't think this would be one of those movies. So yes, the notion of several beautiful women on a camping trip from hell has been done. The revenge flick has been done, the "female empowerment" horror movement is one we all know. But I felt Black Rock was different, it had heart. It reminded me a bit of The Descent, in that it built characters I truly liked, they had dimension, I cared what happened to them. They fought back because they had to, and it was hard, and they didn't magically gain superpowers to do it. It built suspense, and threw a few thriller clichés out the window with the way things turned out. And maybe a little bit of female empowerment never hurt anybody.
