QUICK REVIEW:Although I wouldn't call this a bad "movie," I'd say it's misleading with the title. Judging by the title, I was actually expecting an actual movie. My expection was wrong, and it turned out to be a documentary. In some cinemas in New Zealand, this was shown, probably because...it's Billy T! However, I was kind of expecting Te Movie instead of Te Documentary. Even if this is quite a good documentary, it didn't really offer us what we wanted...a movie. Lots will probably say that this review wasn't helpful, but I guarantee you, it isn't a bad documentary, at all. However, I was just so angry that this was called a movie! But, even though it's misleading, it's still quite good. Go watching it, expecting a documentary. I'll expand on this review later.

Billy T: Te movie is compulsory viewing for all Kiwis in much the same way "Boy" is. The film doesn't really offer any shattering insights into Billy - although the stuff about his family history and growing up is interesting, as is the explanation about the controversy surrounding his burial. It is simply a heart-warming and entertaining biopic of one of the greats of the entertainment industry. Of course, there are plenty of classic sketches to enjoy and many of the interviewees in the film are greats in their own right. So for us born in the early 70s and before, settle in and enjoy the nostalgia trip. For younger ones, a great insight into Kiwi humour and a reminder that you don't need to be vulgar to be funny.
