trcgabriela i just love this movie, i laughed from the beginning till the end; i really don't understand why he made such a poor audience on the big screen! these Americans don't know to appreciate a good comedy! the cast was great, everyone of them; the script is good, the directing also; my favorite character was Dennis Farina's; as a matter of fact, i love Barry Sonnenfeld movies, in general, i really think that he is a great director and big trouble is one of the funniest comedy ever! i think that Zooey Deschanel was spot on and Tim Allen was very funny too; and the movie was also a very good start on their careers for Sofia Vergara and Ben Foster; LOVED IT!
Predrag Based on Dave Barry's novel, "Big Trouble," star Tim Allen (television's "Home Improvement") as a former Pulitzer Prize winning reporter on the Miami Herald (where Barry has been a reporter for years) who has seen his luck run dry. Now working for an advertising firm, Elliot Arnold (Allen) is having father-son problems with his offspring, Matt, (Ben Foster of "Get Over It"), is single, and having problems producing a successful advertising campaign.Just like an old Marx Brothers film, the plot is there only to set in motion the quick-witted dialogue and interaction between the characters. I have enjoyed both of Dave Barry's humor novels(this and "Tricky Business"). They made me laugh out loud as did this movie. I think it captures the spirit of the book perfectly. For those that have laughed at Dennis Farina from his roles in "Get Shorty and even "Snatch," he has never been funnier as a hit man who encounters unexpected roadblocks (literally) on his trip to do a quick sniper job. Tom Sizemore is also excellent as the dumbest crook you'll ever see. Sonnenfeld's touch and a good soundtrack contribute to this madcap misadventure where a hallucinogenic toad, a sub-compact car, and a 'garbage disposal' bomb make for an outrageous race to save a corporate embezzler's step-daughter. I find the film funny without being too silly (a common complaint for other Hollywood parodies) and although not a classic but an entertaining show.Overall rating: 7 out of 10.
Python Hyena Big Trouble (2002): Dir: Barry Sonnenfeld / Cast: Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Jason Lee, Stanley Tucci, Zooey Deschanel: Big mess comedy caper going in too many directions without recovery. A plot is present but its title does it little justice because it doesn't describe the film as a whole. Director Barry Sonnenfeld's worst film since Wild Wild West and that is an accomplishment not to be proud of. Too many characters present an assembly line in shame. Stanley Tucci plays a wealthy husband targeted by hit men because he stole some money. His wife played by Rene Russo is having an affair with Tim Allen. Plot regards briefcase concealing a bomb that travels from various people. Tim Allen as an ad executive is typecast while Russo overacts every bit as bad as she did in Showtime. She is far more talented than this. Jason Lee plays a homeless guy living in a tree and he bears no importance other than to sit in a tree and observe the bullshit. Stanley Tucci is embarrassing as the targeted husband. Zooey Deschanel is featured as Russo's daughter who becomes caught up in this. One could only wish that there was an alternate script for this movie in the briefcase and that he was trying to get it to more confident hands than Sonnenfeld's. Pointless big budget circus act that is more hassle than it is worth. The title clearly describes several careers involved with this film. Score: 2 / 10
Wayne (msboy8-1) This Tim Allen vehicle is a fun ride. If you're looking for Pearls of Wisdom, you're in the wrong place. If you're looking for a movie that pokes good clean fun at some of the issues of today, while making you laugh, you're in the right place.Grab a box of Goobers, a large popcorn with extra butter, a non-diet drink and set your slightly big butt in a comfortable seat. When you suspend your disbelief, also forget about your diet, cholesterol problems and life's little worries. Just let everything go and enjoy everything that is going on in this FUN movie! It didn't win any Academy Awards, there are no life-affecting truths, it won't solve your real-life problems. However, this movie will let you relax and laugh without care. Take a break from real-life and get Happy!
