In John Whitesell's 2006 Masterpiece Big Mommas House 2" things are never quite as simple as one might thing. The movie shines light on some of the more difficult questions such as race, gender and love in general. Martin Lawrence's stellar performance as FBI Agent Malcolm a.k.a. Big Momma finds him stuck in a hard place between two completely different human beings. As he slowly moves deeper into character, his beloved wife Sherri (Nia Long) suspects her Husband is cheating on her. As you might suspect: It's quite a downward Spiral from here on. And it's quite surprising that we, the Audience, still get something you could consider a "Happy Ending" given the extremely difficult circumstances. The Movie itself is wonderfully casted: Emily Procter as "happy-go-lucky-wife" Leah, who only wants the best for her children but is trying way too hard. Kat Dennings as a rebellious teenage girl who, with "Big Momma's" help, learns that things in life are not always as they seem. And last but not least: A scene stealing performance by Chloë Grace Moretz as Leah, whose sufferings we probably can all relate too.Sure: There are moments of comedy but they never outweigh the moments of pure dramatic bliss this movie spits out when you would never even consider it. The chase between the Computer-Hacker Bishop and Big Momma, for example, reminded me of David Cronenberg's "Eastern promises" shower scene. This might sound a bit off at first but if you think about it: the dramatic increase is almost the same as is the climax which is the ending of the chase where Bishop jumps into his death. As with many great movies "Big Mommas House 2" probably needs multiple viewings to understand its full spectrum. There are a lot of things you will not see the first time around. And although the movie is probably not what one would describe as light fare, be aware that it will be worth every minute of your time. 10 stars !

The first film is reasonable entertainment, not as good as something like Mrs. Doubtfire, but not bad, and I saw that the critics didn't rate this sequel very highly, so I had to see why, from director John Whitesell (Deck the Halls). Basically Malcolm Turner (Martin Lawrence) is still working for the FBI, but behind a desk and not out on assignments, as his pregnant wife Sherri Pierce (Are We There Yet's Nia Long) is due to give birth to their baby very soon, but after the death of his friend Doug Hudson (Kirk B.R. Woller) he is keen to carry on where he left off. His new sidekick Kevin Keneally (Zachary Levi) is investigating suspected computer virus developing former Military Intelligence Specialist Tom Fuller (Mark Moses) in Orange County, and the job requires someone going undercover. There is an advertisement made by Fuller's wife Leah (Emily Procter) seeking a nanny to take care of the kids and do all the household chores, and reprising his character disguise as Hattie Mae Pierce, aka Big Momma, Malcolm beats the other candidates, including a female secret agent trying to infiltrate too. While investigating what Tom Fuller is up to when he is not at home with the family, Leah feels that "Big Momma" is not doing any of the chores listed, and not doing anything to help the three kids, Molly (Kat Dennings), Carrie (Kick-Ass's Chloë Grace Moretz) and Andrew (twins Preston and Trevor Shores). He slowly gets the family members all on side, and also gets some good leads on the investigation, and the FBI might not have all their information about Fuller's involvement fully correct. By the end, Malcolm obviously reveals his identity to most that need to know, Tom is found innocent thanks to him, the Fuller family show how his presence benefit, and Sherrie comes round and has the baby. Also starring Marisol Nichols as Liliana Morales. Lawrence is still reasonably funny in and out of the fat woman suit, although he was a little annoying as "her" in some scenes, the slapstick isn't as funny as previously seen, the scripting is pretty lacklustre, overall, it's just not as good as the first, a bit of a lazy action comedy. It was nominated the Razzie for Worst Prequel or Sequel. Adequate!

BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE 2, in my opinion, is a flat-out funny, excellent sequel which is less crass than its predecessor. If you ask me, Malcolm (Martin Lawrence) was very good at masquerading as a southern granny. Still, he wasn't much of a housekeeper at first, though. This was especially my opinion when he attempted to do the laundry early on. The reason for this is because of what he did with the clothes afterward. When I saw that, I wanted to vomit. Ugh! Some of the high points were Big Momma chasing after Chad on a scooter, helping Carrie with her dance routines, and getting Molly to shape up. I still enjoyed this movie just the same. In conclusion, if you like Martin Lawrence, I highly recommend this film and the predecessor. When you see this movie, prepare for lots of big laughs.

The film talks about the FBI agent Malcolm Turner(Martin Lawrence)again posing himself, who's known as a southern sweet ¨big momma¨, she is a severely overweight but bright old woman. This time he goes undercover, attempting resolve a case, as a foul-mouthed nanny of a family constituted by an unhappy mother (Emily Procter),three sons and whose father(Mark Moses) is a hacker under investigation and passing information to the enemy. Also all complicates with the relationship between the potbellied grandma babysitter and the familiar group.Meanwhile he has problems with his beautiful pregnant wife(Nia Long). This sequel expands from original idea but Lawrence and the writers manage to pull it off rather impressively. The jokes are plentiful and is pretty entertaining, the plot doesn't allow for many quiet moments which Lawrence needs to balance out the slapdash. In the former film sporadic laughters are too often mined by scatological and toilet humor but in this movie the gags are more agreeable. It's a farce with the great master of disguise Lawrence when he takes a make up by Greg Cannon is transformed into fat grandma. The story is funny and interesting and the characters are genuine and sympathetic.Film is a Martin Lawrence recital,he makes acrobatics, stooges, tongue twister and pull faces and grimaces.Picture is a vehicle Lawrence ,he's a real show man and authentic farceur.Lawrence like his partner Eddie Murphy has plenty of experience with women costumes and various roles.Film gets a nice cinematography by Mark Irwin and atmospheric score by George S Clinton. The motion picture is rightly directed by John Whitesell. If you like Lawrence's crazy acting ,you'll enjoy this one.
