Kirpianuscus a film like exploration of ideas. about love, the other, reflection of yourself in the near person. need of revenge and stability and happiness. beautiful. interesting. but a kind of iceberg. because all is reduced at suggestion. and the tradition of Russian meditation about the great themes of life is a not small resource in this sense. the film has all for be an admirable work - cinematography, actors, dialogues. but the story in real and profound sense is missing. and, out of doubt, for a part of public this could be a good thing. because it is a Russian film. so... different. but only for a part of public.
Armand two stories who becomes one. characters as sketches. symbols, impression of project, absence of roots for events, different pieces and the duty of viewer to create a puzzle. basic virtue - atmosphere to gives to it the status of interesting movie.the desire to create archetypes for usual case . Franziska Petri and Dejan Lilic are perfect choices for lead roles but the space for give force, content to characters is very small. a film about impossibility of choices. and the fragility of new beginnings. the need of the other. and the frame of a special form of faith. good intentions. and the lines of a delicate , precise definition of a small world. a form of parable.
euroGary 'Betrayal' is a Russian production about a man who goes to the doctor for a check-up, only to be told by her that her husband is having an affair with his wife. This starts a relationship between the two that endures for several years. At first the relationship is not sexual - something I really appreciated in that it went against my jaded expectations - but one of comrades-in-arms, almost, as the doctor takes the man to the various places the adulterous couple meet: the park bench, the statue, the hotel room. The film is filled with unanswered questions, eg: what was the point of the traffic accident; did the man really commit the film's major crime; how did the person found dead at the end of the film die? Normally that sort of thing could annoy me, but not here: this is a slow-moving but engrossing film, and the lead actress, Franziska Petri, is absolutely stunning.
Mozjoukine Long, confusing, sometimes sexy but unsatisfying Ruskie infidelity drama. In an attention getting opening, Lilic shows up for a heart check with fetching Dr. Petri, who announces that their spouses are having an affair, before a SUV mows down a bus stop behind still confused Lilic, launching a complicated sequence of events, where reality and metaphor mix without sufficient indicators.Blue tinged colour & 'Scope images are occasionally striking but the piece is confusing and uninvolving. At nearly two hours, it outlasts its value as drama or guessing game.
