dalebrown-1976 I never knew it existed until now but I just watched the 2007 aqua man film staring Justin Hartley ,Lou Diamond Philips and Ving Rhames and it is an amazing film with an amazing cast the story line is top notch the acting is fabulous so why have no TV stations picked up the series.Smallville has finished and there has been nothing decent since and I thought that there was nothing worthy to replace it or so i thought until now the movie was only 42 Min's but i'm hooked. Someone please pick up the series you're mad not to Smallville ran for 10 seasons and if given the chance I think aqua man has the same potential so somebody please get behind it we need this. I thought it was so great I have even emailed all my friends to tell them because like myself they are all comic book fans and fans of Smallville and I guarantee that you will get the viewers .If nothing else just think of the money potential a fresh new programme can bring action figures T-shirts collectibles. anyone who is a fan of Smallville or DC comics watch Aqua man and write a review and hopefully someone will take note and give us what we need thank you.
stitch-99 Considering this was only the pilot for a series that will never be, it was fantastic.I fail to comprehend what those people who are giving it really low ratings on this site are thinking. Nearly everything they said was inaccurate. The acting was good. The dialogue was acceptable. The special effects (for a TV budget) were quite good. The story was awesome. It set up a lot of potential story lines for the aforementioned series which will never be (and I mean a lot).Since the comparison is inevitable, I may as well make it. This was created by the same fellows that created Smallville. Now, I think that Smallville was okay. The first season was really dragged down by repetitive plot lines that never added up to much and then the show (while still watchable after this point) had no real excuse to continue after season 4.As for Aquaman/Mercy Reef, since it never got past the pilot, none of those criticisms could apply here. However, just comparing the pilots of both shows, I can already see that Aquaman has the upper hand. A significant part of Smallville's pilot was taken up by the monster-of-the-week subplot which did not affect Clark's story significantly that was so incredibly prevalent in the first season. Aquaman had a villain who was killed in the end, so this might indicate that it would have suffered a similar problem. However the difference is that Aquaman's villain was intricately tied to his journey to becoming a hero because she was part of the Atlantean war that would have been a big part of the series. Smallville's weekly villains were connected only in the fact that their powers came from the Kryptonite which fell to Earth with Clark. This villain, in addition to being the monster that had killed A.C.'s mother, was also just the first step in much bigger villainous events that would have taken place.All-in-all, this is a television pilot that is worth your while. I know I will be saying what many others are saying, but I believe it is true: this really should have been picked up for a series.Quite possibly the best part about this adaption is that I used to be in the camp that saw Aquaman as a relatively useless superhero. Thanks to this pilot, I have changed my mind about him.
sweetbennyfenton Okay, I just got through this pilot tonight and keeping a straight face was not an option. Dreadful acting from everyone involved. Every trick in the book thrown at this production out of sheer desperation and every trick done badly. iTunes must be laughing. From the name "Aquaman" to Ving Rhames obviously trying to keep his tongue between his cheeks: Bad, bad and bad. However.....Having said that, I liked it. It made me snile ( that's a cross between sniggering and smiling ) and I thought the story intriguing. Drawing together multiple myths and creating more questions than it answered, this single ( badly made ) episode had me wanting more. It simply has a very good story, albeit let down by bad production values.Call it "The Man From Atlantis", lose the breasts and the American sugar coating and I honestly think this series has a chance. Hopefully someone can pick the series up off the floor.
crash-1998 I think that the CW needs to bring it back or another network should pick it up. How would everyone like to go about getting Mercy Reef back on the air. E-Mail The CW or what. They have supernatural, gilmore girls, they need more action/adventure on. Supernatural is good, but for the die hard comic book fans it is not enough look at all the movie that are based on comic books. How many people grew up reading comics I know I did I guess the people that turned it down has lived a sheltered life or they must be so rich they just don't care about making money. My wife really dosen't read comics that much but she liked it and was asking me when it comes on it is just disappointing that CW wouldn't give it a fair chance NBC came out with heros and it's doing great so come on CW BRING IT BACK you need another good action show on.....
