Since I come from Denmark, I'm quite familiar with Jungledyret Hugo. It was one of the earliest movies I remember from my childhood. The first two movies were good children's movies. This one, however, is filled with too much repetition from earlier installments and it is done in CGI which makes Rita seem bald and magically gives Hugo a belly button. Was this necessary? Rita loses some of her personality without that spiked hair she had in the previous movies. The songs are much in the same way as the first movie. Not as good except Rita's Lullabye in the middle of the movie, which was sweet and hummable. And then we get a villain song about animal experimenting with unnecessarily spooky imagery. Speaking of villains, we have four villains in this movie and they are all from either the TV-series or the previous movies. It could have worked, but it gets to complicated and you can tell by the way too abrubt ending. The voice acting was like in the previous movies good, but some of the characters had lost their innocent charm because of some juvenile humour. I am talking about the monkeys Zik and Zak, which are shown in the trailer for the movie.
And again, is it only because of money they couldn't make it in hand drawn animation? Even The Land Before Time's endless sequels did not succumb to scrap every trace of the hand drawn look. For kids it may be okay to distract them, but I did not enjoy it very much.

The 3th and most likely the last movie with our dear Hugo and Rita. This time they were in 3D. I must admit that I miss the 2D animation. The story is nice and familiar, a good thing and a bad thing. In the beginning of the movie Hugo is hidding out on an little island in Denmark, with Rita and his human friend Delekaj. It's winter. Rita love the snow, but Hugo is bored and cold. And of course he manage to be discovered by humans again. This time he gets hunted down bye no less then 4 humans with 4 different agendas. The animation is smooth and cartoon like, so great pluss on that. The animation is not done in Denmark, but in Lativa. Why? It's cheaper I guess. The music is not as good as the 2 previous movies which had a Jazz tune (not the English dubs though), but Rita sings a lovely song in the middle of the movie.I will not reveal the plot, but if you love Hugo you gonna like this movie.

The animation is good, and the story is all the same. get caught, escape, caught again, escape again. I remember i loved the 1. movie. What i loved about it was the relation between Rita and Hugo. They seems to have managed to preserve that relationship the right way, but the dialog was not for someone above 6 years. Needless to say, the same goes for the humor.and what about the language? calling a dog "Satan" and a drug addict butterfly that talks about tripps. I don't think children understands that so its a children friendly movie...it seems to have won a Oscar also.take your kids to see it. But if you're just an old Jungle Jack(jungeldyret hugo) fan like me, stick to your good old memories.
