. . . being plucked and salted alive, can ALONG CAME DAFFY be JUST a Kiddie Toon aimed at its Contemporary American Youth? Or is ALONG CAME DAFFY another in a long line of cleverly cloaked prognostications from Warner Bros.' always prophetic crack team of Animated Shorts Seers (aka, The Looney Tuners)? Here's the evidence to support the latter conclusion. Ever since our current Game Show Host-in-Chief entered the USA's once-hallowed White House, he's predictably behaved like a fish out of the soup. Since the night of his Rigged Election, We True Blue Normal Average Loyal Patriotic 99 Per Center Silent Majority Progressive Union Label Citizens have been hearing the odds of impeachment posed against those for Summary Execution on the Grounds of High Crimes and Misdemeanors. Certainly Daffy Duck finds himself in a pickle to rival Don Juan Rump's during ALONG CAME DAFFY. With American Culture clearly defining Rump as a "Lame Duck," you owe it to yourself to watch ALONG CAME DAFFY in order to find out what Warner's Warners think will happen next!

Fun Daffy short, directed by Friz Freleng, that pairs Daffy with Yosemite Sam. That's unusual as Sam appeared exclusively with Bugs in all but a couple of shorts. The cartoon starts out with Sam and his dark-haired twin (!) starving in a cabin during a blizzard. Door-to-door salesman Daffy shows up and you can imagine the starving brothers are pleased to see him. The dark-haired "Sam" gets a little more to do here than Yosemite but it's still interesting to see Sam paired with Daffy. Nice music from Carl Stalling. Great voice work from Mel Blanc. Excellent animation. The cabin is especially nice and detailed. A pretty funny effort all around but not one that'll make Freleng's highlight reel.

I don't know about anyone else but I love Daffy Duck and Yosemite Sam when they're together. When they are together, they get a lot of laughs from me. Along Came Daffy may not be their very best collaboration together, as some of the pacing is a little too quick at times, but it is hugely enjoyable and very nicely rounded off. The animation is fine, the backgrounds are colourful and the character designs are very well done. The music as is the case helps add to the sense of fun, as does the exemplary vocal talents of Mel Blanc. Daffy is very manic and brash here and I like that side to him, Yosemite and his brother serve as perfect foils for him though I kind of felt sorry for them when they had nothing to eat at the end. Overall, hugely enjoyable and worth seeing. 9/10 Bethany Cox

This one is pure genius. Not only is it a Daffy Duck short, but it also features an early version of Yosemite Sam. And his brother who has a big Black Mustache instead of being red. It's taken place in the middle of a Klondike area. The 2 Yosemite Brothers are all starving and out of food. They're both thinking of eating one another till Daffy Comes along as a CookBook Salesman. Little does he know that he's going to be the main course for the Brother's Supper. This is one of the top 10 Daffy Duck cartoons in my option.A must see for those who admire that goofy Duck.
