Michael_Elliott Alcatraz: Search for the Truth (2015)*** 1/2 (out of 4) Highly entertaining "documentary" has two nephews of John and Calrence Anglin coming to a U.S. Marshall with new evidence that claims the two men not only escaped Alcatraz but also made it through the water and lived a rather good life afterwards.I'm just going to review this as far as the entertainment value goes and I'm not going to get into spoilers about what is revealed here because part of the entertainment is the build up to the new evidence. There's no question that this escape is one of the most interesting mysteries in the history of America but there really hasn't been much evidence one way or another whether the brothers and Frank Morris survived once they got into the water. If you watch countless documentaries on the subject like I do then you already know that it's most just theories. Well, this documentary gives actual evidence or at least evidence the brother's family thinks prove that they are alive. There's no question that this is a well-made special but at the same time there's way too much "reality" show stuff added. Just one example is the video crew who captures that first call of the nephews calling the investigator. With that said, there's no doubt that the new evidence will certainly make you think as does the conclusion, which just begs for another follow up on the subject.
