Mister Gorys This is an underrated horror movie and I think that's because it follows the first movie in this franchise which was so very good that it's pretty much impossible to follow it up and not be a bit disappointing. The good acting and writing are still there with some really good scares and effects. This is a lot of fun and Freddy is better than ever in this one!
Gresh854 In A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge, Freddy Kruger has a plan to convert his new victim, Jesse-who has just moved into Nancy's (the previous victim's) old house-into a host to carry out his kills in the real world rather than the dream world. This new concept approached within this sequel could most certainly be achieved if done properly, but the way the film plays it out is done way too leisurely and often with little to no spirit, resulting in legitimate disbelief from audience members like myself. Considering that the main character is such a whiny, cowardly, little, nuisance, his random transition into a serial killer truly feels unconvincing, unlikely, and at times, immensely random. Yes, some may say he's just becoming possessed but honestly, the film is so careless to explain even minor bits of information on how the hell certain exploits are occurring, that it becomes quite maddening. Also, all the supernatural elements the film offers make absolutely little to no sense-considering when they happen they don't take place in a damn dream (at least I think they didn't). Every character dynamic or relationship presented in the movie doesn't work like the film seems to think it does, which is as well, aggravating. The script is often atrocious; its attempts to recall certain plot-points from the original feel cheap, and eminently obvious. You can tell the actors/actresses are giving it their absolute all but considering the material they've been given, most of their performances come off as laughable (which isn't entirely any of their faults, more so the writers). The only saving grace in this movie is whenever Freddy Kruger appears on screen; Robert Englund's performance within this franchise is everlastingly memorable. All in all, A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge is one of the most disappointing direct from the original, horror sequels I've ever witnessed. (Verdict: D)
darksyde-63508 The "Nightmare On Elm Street" franchise can be hit or miss. Some entries in the franchise work, while others fall flat on their face. This is one that kind of falls in between , even though most fans will readily admit that this isn't one of their favorites. Much has been made about this movies homoerotic undertones, and most involved with the movie will say that they didn't realize this until much, much later. I mean, how can't you realize this when Freddy tells a young teenage boy that he wants to use him for his body, and a high school gym teacher is found in a bar wearing leather S&M gear? But i don't really think any of that is why most fans don't really like this movie. The truth is, it just isn't all that good, and that's the main reason why its one of the weaker chapters in the series
Eric Stevenson Freddy Krueger is back again! Wait, this is the first sequel so now he's just back. Anyway, this movie features Freddy possessing some guy named Jesse. I was confused as to how this even worked. I mean, he literally popped out of Jesse's body instead of possessing him. This movie is notable for being the one where Freddy gets the most kills. Most of them are done out of the dream world. Why doesn't he do that more often? He seems to be more powerful in the real world for some odd reason. He can even teleport.I do like how they feature Nancy's diary and don't just ignore her from the first film. She is the most iconic character from the franchise apart from Freddy of course. The budget was apparently only $3,000,000 so I will give this film props for looking nice. It still doesn't really have anything unique. The ending to the original "A Nightmare On Elm Street" was actually changed so that Freddy could come back giving us the sequels expected from a slasher movie. It's mostly just more of the same. **
