loueysmith I'll start by saying that I've always found Jason Lee to be funny and that is honestly why I even watched this...BUT... He was the one I was most irritated by in this flick, don't get me wrong, the movie in itself was funny in many parts, but I found Jason Lees character to be too spineless...I mean, who the hell voluntarily climbs into a dumpster, after being told to by some moron who hasn't even got a weapon pointed at him?! And that was just one of the many scenes where he showed himself as a pushover. He did provide a few funny scenes, but not nearly as many as I expected. It seemed to be centered on far more silly scenes and some felt a little forced. His parents, while funny in parts...were a little too 'big' which to me, isn't funny! Selma Blair played a character I've seen her play a few times, so I wasn't unimpressed by her, but I also wasn't blown away by her either. I didn't feel the chemistry between Jason Lee and Julia Stiles, like at all. I knew the predictability of the storyline, that he was going to realize he liked her, but I didn't feel the chemistry between them...even the kiss at the end was buzz free! I'm a fan of Jason Lee, Shawn Hatosy and Julia Stiles...but I wasn't loving this flick!
Mihai Toma Paul, a normal man engaged with Karen, gets an unexpected hangover after his bachelor party and ends up in bed with a girl whom he doesn't remember. From that moment, he's going to encounter a series of difficulties which will make him rethink his relationship and his way of life. This movie, with its common and so many times used plot, although it had potential, manages to be a yawn-making and head-scratching machine. At some point tends to be serious and then the very next one becomes a parody. It has so many moments which make absolutely no sense in this movie, like Becky's psycho cop girlfriend who always comes into the picture just to spoil it without any reason. And the way the whole idea was treated...I really wasted time with this movie and I'm actually sorry for actors like Julia Stiles who end up in such "films".To be honest with you, if it wasn't for her and the fact that the movie managed to make me laugh a couple of times, we'd be talking about a much lower rating
insomniac_rod Typical chick flick that should be enjoyed only by teens. There is not much to comment about this effort that could easily pass as a b-movie effort. The plot tries to be different from some other efforts of it's time but to be honest I didn't think it was a genre definer or a movie that should be kept in order to show it to anyone else!.The acting by Julia Stiles is wooden but it helps that she's pretty. Selma Blair is sexy as always but her character didn't help that much. Jason Lee always works for these kind of movies but the plot didn't help him either. So there you go, this is a mildly-entertaining, not clever or witty, but "ok-time killer" for those who enjoy regular almost mediocre romantic comedies.Watch it only if it airs on cable. I did that! I didn't spend a single dollar on it and I'm proud about it.
Enchorde Recap: The morning after his bachelor party Paul is woken by his mother-in-law-to-be and discovers that there is a woman sleeping beside him. Unfortunately its a waitress from the bar, and not his fiancée. And suddenly she turns up everywhere... the toll booth at the freeway and at his parent-in-laws dinner. And it is hard to keep a secret when her jealous ex-boyfriend had him followed and photographed. It is not only about saving his wedding... it is about survival.Comments: Actually much better than expected. Not the sweet romantic comedy I expected, but something much funnier, something with a little edge. This movie wasn't afraid to take the jokes a little further. And Jason Lee does now how to deliver comedy, especially when his character is half-panicked and deep in trouble, as he is here. And he got nice support from beautiful ladies Julia Stiles and Selma Blair. And actually I thought Lochlyn Munro did a nice part as the ex.So, more emphasis on comedy than romance, and the end result was good. I enjoyed it very much.7/10
