The bad acting takes much way from this mockumentary, There are definitely a lot of creepy moments but they fail to explain how cameras can be catching video of the people who are actually using cameras! Especially in scenes where there is just one person. When first viewed it was unclear if this was a real documentary or just a horror flick but as the movie progresses the latter shows itself to be the truth. This movie put out by Asylum...I cannot find the review right now, but one other reviewer said their were some problems with all Asylum movies, that they repeat the same lines over and over, because they have nothing to say. This observation nails it. Listen for people saying the same things over and over, and I mean within seconds, not just as the movie progresses.Then there is this technique of "people chatter about nonsense until the lead character takes over the scene". This too was overused.None of the characters say anything personal, except during their 10 seconds introduction on the film.They also copy about 12 different stunts from Paranormal Activity - I don't mind a few, but seriously... I could come up with something different for the entity to do if I spent about 15 minutes thinking about it... but I won't, I was supposed to be entertained, not be the entertainer.Even for a micro-budget, they could have done better.The only thing I liked was the genre they are pursuing.

I am the first to admit that Asylum movies, for the most part, are a really really terrible way to waste hours of your life if you are bored.However, since seeing Paranormal Entity, I figured there had to be a few out there worth watching. This movie is one of them.I am not a fan of serial killer movies. The only reason why I decided to watch this one is because it is loose prequel to Paranormal Entity. I wish the Asylum would put as much imagination and effort into all their movies as they have that movie and this one. They should have kept making these movies rather than wasting money making cheesy knock offs of genres they are terrible at (sci-fi being one of many).Several things will surprise you: the acting is competent. Characters are fairly well written, and portrayed authentically. The camera shots aren't too shaky, and they make good use of stationary settings. Special affects were fair - the shadowy things were neat, but we could have done without the audio spookiness. Also, the house is supposed to be new but it looks very old. I could overlook that, if it weren't for the ancient fusebox in one of the scenes.If they would clean up the few mistakes they make in both Paranormal Entity and Gacy House, they'd have a couple of really good indie movies to brag about. I could do without the whole porn-star-boobs-in-your-face scenes, too.Overall, not a bad way to waste your time if you enjoy found footage movies, or if you're in the mood for something different. I'm glad to say this is one Asylum movie I didn't end up turning off after the first ten minutes.

I've seen better acting in pornography. Don't waste your time, i'd rather be scratching my butt... This review requires ten lines. I do not have anything to say about this movie that is remotely close to ten lines. I will now recite the alphabet: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z now i'm going to go watch paint dry...Apparently this review is still not long enough. It's bad. It's boring. It's worse than Nicholas Cage's dramatic knee drops in "the knowing" (i believe there were 12). I would rather watch Bob Ross paint a landscape. I rented this movie for 99c, I'm kicking myself for not buying a taco instead...do not make the same mistake i did!
