poorti Wonderful movie, based on problem arises on marriage due to cultural difference between families. Soothing music, fresh faces, engaging story till the end. Worth watching multiple times with family.

(I mean until they blaming each other) but after that writer just want to satisfy the spectator..naturally there are lot of couples have to suffer due to things not going in there favor,and mostly after that things go out of their control.. and be unhappy as well as helpless and hole life is suffer by memorizing their wonderful memories..It is very rare that, things go correct just like in the move.. it just for happy ending..and i really love the story.my one is more simile to this until the couple is separated. and i am hoping my one will end like this.. some western person might feels we are lucky to to bond this much in culture but it should be there but need not to extremes..(last lines just for minimum 10 lines) thanks..

Arup Ghose I haven't read the book by Chetan Bhagat so I had no idea how good or bad the film would be, but I was pleasantly surprised. 2 States portrays the every day troubles of different backgrounds of the Hindu culture coming together for marriage. A hardcore punjabi family vs the soft and calm tamil family, is a representation of all mixed Hindu marriages and Abhishek Varman showns this very naturally. Arjun and Alia's romance, especially in the university days is very cute and When the two families get together later on in the film, there is some brilliantly funny scenes! Both Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt did justice to their respective lead roles and have a fantastic on screen chemistry. Alia comes off perfectly natural on screen (she has overacted in some films), I think a lot of people will stand up and notice her after this performance. This is a standout performance for Arjun, away from the action packed films like Ishaqzaade, Aurangzeb and Gunday. He plays the confused Punjabi boy perfectly. The scene stealer on many occasions however was Amrita Singh! She is a fantastic talent - why she doesn't do more films is beyond me, but hopefully after such a lovely performance she will catch more attention. Ronit Roy plays his role excellently. Revathi is also very sweet in her role. The music of the film is another plus, and certainly adds a lot to the film. My picks are certainly Mast Magan and Locha-E-Ulfat. 2 States is a must watch, firstly to watch a simple but beautifully put love story, but also for some excellent performances!

durge777 2 states is based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller '2 States:The Story Of My Marriage' which is his autobiographical novel.Here too romance is cross-cultured like most movies of Bollywood.Krish Malhotra(Arjun Kapoor) is a Punjabi from Delhi whereas Ananya(Alia Bhatt) is a Tamilian from Chennai . The movie starts with the narration of story by krish to pshyciatrist.They met in the campus of IIM Ahmedabad.Soon They became a close friend .They fell in love with each other .Director Abhishek Verman depicts the questions & imaginations arising in the mind of lovers & families.They both got high-income job after graduating from IIM & now wants to get married.They decided to bring their parents together & they made few arrangement for this but there is a cultural clash between their parents so parents oppose the weddings. Its hard for them to convince their parents for love marriage . Arjun & Alia both have attracted young audience with their stunning acting .Krish's mother(Amrita singh) has acted wonderfully to depicts a punjabi mother as well Ananya's mother(Revathy) too had played her role very well as tamilian mother .Krish's Father(Ronit roy) & Ananya's father(Shiv Kumar Subramaniam) , They too have impressed audience by their performance.Other characters like Krish'relatives too are very significant in the movie.Costume designing in every scene is done woderfully and locations of shooting is chosen carefully like IIMAcampus,Ahmedabad, Delhi and Chennai.Dialouge too are appropriate at each scene.Production designing is also done very well like campus placement scenes,marriage scenes in Delhi,marriage scenes in chennai & many others and music composed by Shanker Ehsaan Loy is fair . Director Abhishek makes a significant debut as a storyteller. It's a must watch movie.
