insomniac_rod As easy as this: "Girl Fever" is NOT funny. When a movie tries too hard to be funny , then it's a bad movie. The humor is terrible because it tries to be like "American Pie" but in such a not so funny manner. The sex related jokes just don't work and the rest of the humor is really dumb. The acting...oh the acting. The actors are really bad and look very uncomfortable.I agree with many other reviewers who say that this is a very boring movie. To be honest, I couldn't watch it until the end. I fell asleep but I'm sure that even if it was a good ending, it isn't worth the watch. Stay away from this not so mainstream teen comedy that tries too hard to be funny. Avoid it!
cat_on_imdb Even though "Girl Fever" (other title "100 women") is a fantasy piece at best, the way it's done is so idiotic beyond even the most cliché rubbish ever done in cinema. In one aspect of the movie we see the politically correct, totally unrealistic fantasy set-up: an American art student has some hot looking trophy chyck fall out of the sky and be all over him. We are supposed to believe this could ever happen? Unless you're an art student who happens to be a rich and famous rock star or movie industry mogul, or coke dealer I suppose. Also, we see the main character treated like crap by a bunch of women to see if he is *worthy*. The kind of men-are-not-worthy-of-women for some reason goes unnoticed in America. With the exception of the various nemesis in the story, everyone is so nice and so genuine it's just too sickening. So unrealistic. This flick is for those who really want like to see men played for suckers by skanks.
donegreg There's definitely something a little redeemable about it, but I'm not sure what. The storyline was awful. So maybe it was the acting? Not sure, I did laugh a few times, but I think those were mostly at the movie and not with it.I didn't find the individual characters' preachy comments on men, women, relationships very witty. The ending was way too forced.Perhaps the silliness of it all is enough to make it worth a viewing if you catch it on HBO.
riboflavin So strikingly similar in tone and message to 100 Girls, it leads one to believe that director Michael Davis is a one trick pony. I haven't seen eight days a week, but from the IMDB synopsis, I can see that the male leads in all three movies are romantically tenacious little buggers who have a retarded sexual pervert for a best friend. This movie is set in a world where women are perfect, saintly, beautiful and utterly disgusted by men, who are rapists, perverts, peeping toms, slobs, and ne'er-do-wells. Our protagonist, Sam, thus spends 98 minutes apologizing to 100 women for the entire encyclopedia of male foibles. If any woman in this movie has any faults, it's because some male figure in their past has exacted some sort of brutality or cruelty to make them act that way - you know, just like the guests on daytime talk shows. Formerly fat girls (now hot girls) were fat because boys taunted them into chocolate addiction. Emotionally reluctant girls are that way because they were betrayed and raped by boys they considered friends. No matter which title you use for this movie, 100 Women or Girl Fever, it's quite evident that the title is supposed to be the draw for horndog guys to take a look, only to have their own sexuality distorted and lampooned in the Hollywood equivalent of a fun-house mirror. I cannot conceive of any other purpose for such a movie.Although I can't see how it's possible to spoil this piece of girl-power clap trap, consider yourself warned of the potential spoiler in the next paragraph.I found it quite nauseating when Sam ends up getting the girl of his dreams (which, incidentally, he could not achieve without the assistance of the other 99 women). Sam is apparently powerless to tell her that he is actually in love with someone else - a secret which he is also unable to hide from his omniscient girlfriend. She then sets him free, as if he were a caged bird, to pursue his real true love, whom he has ostensibly betrayed by not being aware of his desires in a timely manner. Though given permission to pursue real love, in typical male fashion, he is unable to convince the new girl of his sincerity without the validation of the other 99 women.Penis jokes abound. Men are cast as vitriol fodder. It seems that in this movie, women can do no wrong, and men can do no right. When a guy plays tricks on one of the girls, she loses her job. Girl-crafted pranks, on the other hand, are physically painful in a testicular kind of way, yet have absolutely no unanticipated consequences. Girls would never be so irresponsible, now would they?If you are a woman, and want to feel good about yourself whilst dissing and mocking men in a contrived sort of way, I urge you to see this movie. If you are a man, and have ever had guilt feelings about looking at a girl's ass as she walked by, do not see this movie - you will no doubt be suicidal before they roll the credits. If I ever see Chad Donella walking down the street, I'm gonna kick him in the ass!
